The Mitchelville Preservation Project Presents a Golf Outing at Arthur Hills Golf Course
Dawn of Freedom Golf Outing to benefit Mitchelville Preservation Project. Experience a golf outing unlike any other, especially once you get to the 13th hole of Arthur's Hill, the site of Camp Baird. Camp Baird was the encampment for the Union Army's 32rd Colored Infantry Regiment soliders that built and manned Fort Howell. The Fort was designed to protect the citizens of the "first self-governed freedman's town” in America, Mitchelville on Hilton Head Island, from possible Conferderate army attack.
